After Alex and Kiley left town on Wednesday morning, we spent Wednesday and Thursday turning the house around from guests and packing for a super short trip. We picked Connor up from school on Friday after lunch and headed straight down to Harrison (just north of NYC). Perry's mother, Rosemarie, planned a special surprise dinner for Sheila and Perry to celebrate their engagement. Alex and Kiley were responsible for getting the happy couple to the restaurant, everyone said "surprise" while our little family hid in an alcove and Connor goes running out to Sheila and Perry to say, "Happy Engagement!!" Boy, were they surprised!! Dinner was delicious, the children were insanely well-behaved (despite being close to 11:00pm. when we finally left the restaurant) and just having Ben, his mom and brother together more than made up for a trip totally less than 12 hours (not including drive time). We did drive home on Saturday morning and again, the kids were actually really good and patient for spending two days in the car traveling. On Sunday, we had to be at an away football game really, really early...at the game at 8:00am! The boys played well and Connor had some really good tackles. The remainder of Sunday was spent lounging around and hanging in jams. Whew..we were exhausted!!
