The Big Event Week

This has to be the week of big events here at the house!  First, Gammam and Pap came to visit on Sunday and to spend the week with us.  The kids were so excited to have new visitors show up! 

On Monday, Gammam, Pap, Alaina and I drove down to Syracuse to shop at the most massive mall- (for you Orlando-people, think the Mall at Millenia with six floors of awesomeness!)  We didn't get anywhere close to trekking through the entire place before we had to leave and get Connor off the bus.  On Tuesday, we were pretty low-key and just did some last-minute Thanksgiving Commissary shopping. 

Connor was off school on Wednesday and because he had two purple days (the color-code behavior system they use at school with purple meaning you had the most excellent behavior kind of day), we took the kids to go see Frozen at the movie theater.  I was so excited to see this movie because it looks so cute...but Alaina had other plans.  My super-charming little girl had a meltdown from the time the previews ended until the last 15 minutes of the movie when she finally cried herself to sleep.  The last 15 minutes of the movie were really cute....too bad I didn't get to see the rest of it.  Connor really liked it though and has talked about it how funny the snowman is.

The big highlight has been the snow!  From Tuesday through this morning we have had about 12 inches of snow.  We have been doing lots and lots of shoveling...but it is really pretty to look at.

And of course last, but not least, Thanksgiving.  Anyone who knows me knows that this is not my favorite of holidays but we spent the afternoon and into the evening with my military girlfriends and their kids.  All the kids had a great time and it was nice having an extended family to spend the day with.  It really is one of the neatest things about being in the Army, no matter where you go, you always have a "family."  It may not be the one God gave you but they quickly become family nonetheless and I am insanely grateful for their love and friendship.  So, as this night comes to an end, I sit comfy in my jams and the kids fall into their deep turkey-induced sleep, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, from our family to yours.
