The snow storm hit hard on Thursday into Friday and we had more snow Friday into Saturday but it wasn't anything very significant. On Saturday, we went to the Mall to get boxes for the teachers' gifts, bags for our babysitters' gifts, hand sanitizer for Connor and the hang-y thingy he has been asking for ad of course, since Bath and Body Works were having a sale on their soap for $2.50 a piece, I stocked up on some of those too. The highlight of the morning was seeing Santa. I had promised Connor on Wednesday that we would make time for Santa and so we made sure we were standing there waiting for him when he came to his little area.
Oops...sorry you have to turn your head to see this one! Forgot to edit. Alaina wasn't screaming her head off this year, so I'd say our Santa trip was a success.
Sunday we got 8 more inches of snow and if you are keeping track, we are at over 36" for the season so far. Our plan was to go to church in the morning and then do a little holiday baking in the afternoon. However, we were pretty much snowed in when I got up. Not sure why, but the plows didn't come through the neighborhoods until well after 9:00am. Instead of being able to get out to go to church, we bundled up and played out in the snow for about an hour while my friend and his son helped me shovel. With the snowblower, 2 adults and one middle schooler, it still took 45 minutes. Talk about a workout. But the kids had a blast! When the snow plows come through, there is no where to put all this snow so they pile it up on the corners of the streets. Our piles are getting so big they make the perfect little sledding hills for little ones. We did bake on Sunday too. The kiddos were responsible for pretzel bites and I made our normal Christmas specialty...buckeyes!
Finally today we packaged up our teacher gifts.
